A first round pick out of West Texas A&M, Duane Thomas achieved great success with the Dallas Cowboys. In his rookie season in 1970, Duane led the NFL in yards per carry and finished eighth in the league in rushing yards. The following season, the talented running back performed even better, leading the NFL in touchdowns and powering the legendary Cowboys to their first Super Bowl win in 1972. Fans will never forget Duane's silent protest of the Cowboy's organization during the 1971-1972 season. He earned the nickname "The Sphinx" and refused to talk with anyone involved with the team administration.

Totally contrary to what his "playing days" conduct and attitude might indicate, Duane is thoughtful and witty...and loves a conversation!!  Along with Sports Illustrated's Paul Zimmerman, Duane wrote Duane Thomas and the Fall of America's Team, depicting the Cowboys organization's unfair treatment of him. Duane finished his career with the Washington Redskins and has since created the Duane Thomas Foundation which strives to provide people with life management skills. He is a talented painter, as well. Several of his works can be seen at www.withduanethomas.com

Though controversial during his career, this exceptional, talent and Cowboy great always has  maintained an affection for his fans and can't wait to connect with all of us on Vizzitt!
